Rip Curl Kirra Teams Challenge 2009 gets under way at Duranbah beach in perfect beach breaks

The 2009 Rip Curl Kirra teams Challenge got started today with perfect waves off the wall at Duranbah.

The conditions were perfect , with kegs all over the beach especially in the afternoon when the wind wasoffshore and the tide was low.

Incredible surfing took place on the first day.

the first duel of the morning was the heat with former Oz champ Nic Vasecek and Leba’s Stu Kennedy.

Also later in the day Dan Pryor of Snapper rocks Surfriders almost caused an upset when with less than a minute to go and Owen Wright pulled a high score from no where to take home first place.

Its early days but several clubs are looking strong..
